It feels like forever ago that Jamie & Liz first got in touch about their wedding plans. When they first emailed me, they were nervous about coming out to complete strangers as an LGBT couple, as they weren’t sure how accepting people in Europe were with gay relationships. In their email they talked a little bit about themselves, and how they imagined their winter wedding day surrounded by mountains, ideally proximate to a ski resort since they both loved to hit the slopes together. During the snowy months, PlumpJack Inn is the perfect place for a cozy winter wedding. Lake Tahoe is a favorite destination for these two grooms. So, this was the perfect place for them to exchange vows and tie the knot.
I photographed this wedding on a clear, crisp December day with blue skies. The photo below is one of my favorite photos from this LGBTQ wedding at PlumpJack Inn.
Once the snow begins to fall, Olympic Valley becomes a winter wonderland. On the wedding day, arrived premature and drove to the east end of the valley. From here, I shot a not many landscape images to document the beautiful location and surrounding peaks. PlumpJack Inn sits at the base of the Tram Meet. The Tram Face is the shaded cliff area just right-of-center in the photo below.
First Watch in the Courtyard
Shortly after I arrived, the grooms met one another in the courtyard (aka &#;Upper Pool Patio&#;) for a quick first look. Since PlumpJack Inn is a fairly compact venue, this outdoor space is a versatile, multi-use area. At most weddings, I make a couple location recommendations for the first look.
